After a few evening trying to plan the best blog for our Wine Society, I think we are now so far to launch it on the internet. It is a real pleasure to do that now...
Do not hesitate to comment on our first steps.

On Friday the 20th, a small group of the Wine Society went to La Cave des Vignerons in Grandvaux for some local wine tasting. We tried from "La Cave du Père Sévéran" of the producer Baumgratner in Grandvaux :
Our "coup de coeur" was the Chasselas Courseboux, a nice frutty and mineral wine.
Of course, wine is one part of the "terroir" and some "tommes vaudoises and saucisson" made this tasting very local and typical.

Comme le temps passe vite...
This is already the end of this semester. Unfortunately, the Wine Society hadn't the time to organize a last event, which would have been just before the exams when everybody is studying hard. There were as well other event about wine at EHL during the same period :
Mr Roger, Wine specialist and teacher at EHL organized his traditionnal "Grand Tasting" on 8th November. This day, 12 wines from Bordeau were presented by the producer of Château Cantemerle, Mr Philippe Dambrine and 80 student and staff members had the pleasure to tast those wines.
This was a very good event and most of the Wine Society members were present to tast those wines. It was as well interesting to see if the wines of Bordeau aren't too expensive for the quality. Some wines were disapointing us and of course there were some "Valeurs sures" as well.
Then, on 16th November, the Blind Tasting, organized by the Wine Cellar Committee, took place at "Le Berceau des Sens", fine dinning restaurant of EHL. In this event, wines are served and Mr Roger, which selected the wines gives the custumers some advices about the tasted wine. The invited have to guess the name of the wine, grape, region, vintage. Of course, there were some present for the winners. First place : 12 bottles of wine from Bordeau, 2nd place, the book "The World Atlas of Wine, 3rd place, 3 bottles of Porto. Of course, members of the Wine Society were present and took the 2nd place and 3rd one.
The wine to guess were the following :
A really good evening with some very difficult wine to guess (Riesling for Romania and Jurançon) but good to learn about it. Unfortunately, the menu served by the kitchen on this day wasn't exceptionnal...
The committe for this semester has been established :

The first part of the programm has been also done and the first event planed for this semester will be a tasting at La cave du Château, behind Tunnel (Lausanne) on the 2nd of March at 5 pm. In this event, we will tast some typical wine from Romania, which are not very well known here but exported now to USA and Germany mostly. A good apportunity to learn about the wines and their commercial potential.
For any information about it, do not hesitate to contatct us.
